Tone: [C]
[C]a winter's day
In a [F]deep and dark De[C]December;
[Dm]I [G]am [F]al[C]alone,
[Dm]Gazing from my [G]window [Dm]to the streets bel[G]below
On a [Dm]freshly fallen
[F]silent shroud of [G]snow.
I am a [C]rock,
I am an [G]is-[C]is-land.
I've built [C]walls,
a [F]fortress deep and [C]mighty,
That [Dm]none [G]may [F]pene[C]penetrate.
I [Dm]have no need of
[G]friendship; [Dm]friendship causes [G]pain.
It's l[Dm]laughter and it's [F]loving I dis[G]disdain.
I am a [C]rock,
I am an [G]is-[C]is-land.
Don't talk of [C]love,
I've [F]heard the words be[C]before;
It's [Dm]sleep[G]sleeping in my [F]memo[C]memory.
And I [Dm]won't disturb the
[G]slumber of [Dm]feelings that have [G]died.
If I [Dm]never loved I
[F]never would have [G]cried.
I am a [C]rock,
I am an [G]is-[C]is-land.
I have my [C]books
And my [F]poetry to pro[C]protect me;
I am [Dm]shiel[G]shielded in my [F]armo[C]armor,
[Dm]Hiding in my [G]room, [Dm]safe within my [G]womb.
I [Dm]touch no one and [F]no one touches [G]me.
I am a [C]rock,
I am an [G]is-[C]is-land.
And a [F]rock [Em]feels no[C]no pain;
And an [F]island [Em]never[C]never cries.
